Ready to get your hands dirty? Lets grow and learn together.
DIY kits are a great way to begin your journey into the world of fungi. They also make great gifts for the curious minds in your life. With our all-in-one grow kit, you’ll have mushrooms fruiting on your kitchen counter in no time!
What You’ll Need
Your fully colonized mushroom block (sealed in a grow bag)
A clean spray bottle with water
A plate or tray to catch drips
A bright room with fresh air and indirect light (like your kitchen or laundry room)
Next to a sink, in a bathroom or in a garage with slightly higher humidity
How to Grow Your Mushrooms
1. Cut the Bag
Use clean scissors or a knife to cut a 2–3 inch “X” in the long side of the bag.
2. Bag Placement
Place the kit on a tray or plate in a clean, well-lit space with indirect light and fresh air (no direct sunlight, 60–75°F).
3. Misting = Mushroom Magic
Mist the area around the cut 2–3 times per day with clean water.
Spray directly into the cut and inside the bag.
Small droplets will form on the inside of the bag near the cut—this means the humidity is high enough.
If it dries out too fast, increase misting or create a loose tent with plastic wrap or another clear bag.
4. Harvest Time!
Baby mushrooms ("pins") should appear within 5–10 days.
Let them grow until the caps begin to flatten or turn upward slightly, then harvest by gently twisting or cutting at the base.
Enjoy immediately or store in a paper bag in the fridge.
Second Flush
Let the block rest for 3–5 days after your first harvest, then resume daily misting. Soaking in water for 12hrs can help to trigger another flush. Most blocks produce 2 or more flushes with proper care.
Spent Block? Garden Gold.
Once your block is fully spent, cut open the bag and crumble the block into your compost or garden soil.
It’s excellent for soil health—and may even fruit again after a good rain!
Tips & Troubleshooting
No mushrooms after 10+ days? Increase misting, airflow, or light
Mushrooms dry out or stall? Mist more often; boost humidity near the block
