Zeke Weiss

My love for farming began in the WWOOF program. For the past five years I’ve lived and worked alongside rural families, discovering the heart of community and my passion for connecting to the Earth. From North Carolina to Pennsylvania and Oregon, I learned more about what makes a place home for so many people. Working with the land is a special way to connect with yourself. Changing and adapting with the seasons is a spiritual practice.

What better metaphor for collaboration than the fungal world?

My farm experiences have planted a spore that continues to grow. What started as a tent in my closet became two refurbished walk-in coolers and a garage, I began mushroom farming commercially here on Bainbridge Island with Kevin Block of Sol Farm. Since 2024 I have found my own place in the Island community, supplying markets and CSA’s to feed people who seek deeper connection with their food and place.

When I’m not farming, you’ll find me playing music and enjoying the fruits of my labor with friends. I find music and farming go hand in hand. We play the same tunes each week, but the rhythms and melodies change ever so slightly.
